No one wants to talk about middle aged Black Women and loneliness

I hope in the coming months as we go into the holidays, there are more conversations about loneliness and how Black women navigate said loneliness. It is imperative to the mental and emotional health of middle aged Black Women to explore this topic and perhaps create solutions to navigate this part of their journey with healthy results.

Yes, I’m a Mom and yes I am also a complex human being…

Such is life. #Mommyfab

For so long Black American Mothers have been neatly filed into racist social tropes. We are either ghetto Moms, asexual bodies that serve the youth and the men in our community or we are the likeable, respectable woman who knows her place.

Hi. I’m a Mom. I think that’s bullshit. Black Moms we are human. We are also complex human beings because the duality of being a Black American parent in America — being here and trying to raise our children whilst protecting them from the trauma we have faced demands complexity and cleverness.

This is a funny post. Some things I will write will be true. Some will be hyperbole. Fun facts: I’m divorced, over 45 years old and I’m Black American. So there’s layers to the foolishness that is about to ensue. And if you are triggered by profanity, please skip this post.

Here comes the clowns ooopsy I mean potential dating candidates ….

This is what the pool of candidates look like when you are an educated Black American woman over 45+, divorced and looking to have a reasonably intelligent level of engagement. I just needed a breather cause PwC was kicking my ass at the time. Then the train stopped just shy of 57th and they told us to get out the train we are under terrorist attack. That train had stopped right by my job. I remember walking and then as I turned to go in the door? Everyone was looking up, so I looked up too? The tower fell down and their was this huge…

In my travels, I was at a party? chatting away, networking and such. I happen to strike up a grandiose conversation with a Chinese girl from Uptown. Eventually we would both…
