Drink and be merry

Drink responsibly. Like that’s a thing. A really good thing.

In the holiday season coming up, I want you to take 30 mins each day to just sit, sip and be happy. You deserve to carve out moments of reflection and to carve out a bit of joy for yourself.

One of the things I had to learn after therapy for my divorce was to make time for myself to experience joy or take even 10 mins to reflect on what’s going right in my life in the “now”.

Whether it is a hot cup of tea, a warm giant “cuppa”, a latte with a bit of spice, a flute of champagne or a wee dram — take your drink, sit down in your favorite chair and find your joy. Find your peace. Find a moment of happiness for YOU. YOU DESERVE IT.

In the article: The Secrets of Happiness published on the Psychology Today website ( https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/articles/199207/the-secrets-happiness), they write:

But it’s also true that we have the power to affect our own destinies, for we are the creators as well as the creatures of our social worlds. We may be the products of our past, but we are also the architects of our future. Personality isn’t programmed like eye color. The predispositions we bring with us into the world leave room for nurture’s influence, and our own efforts as well. What we do today shapes our world and ourselves tomorrow.

So if we shape our tomorrow by what we do today, then let’s take a moment and focus on joy and happiness for ourselves, so we can have a more peaceful tomorrow.
