Housekeeping: I was able to attend this event because I won tickets via a contest hosted by the awesome @HoustonFoodFetish on Instagram. Writing a blog post was not a requirement of winning the tickets. I just want to share how lovely the event was for me. Now read on.
I love a good tasting event. My relationship with wine and food has changed dramatically over the years. Needless to say, I love to eat… I do. However the beauty of how food is prepared, how flavors are co-mingled and how wine is crafted seems to capture my attention in a unique way. I am always intrigued when I learn about a chef’s motivation or the backstory of a vineyard. So when I won tickets to the Wine Rendezvous Grand Tasting at the Marriott Conference center in The Woodlands, I was super chuffed. I was beyond pleased as this was practically in my back yard.
And. It. Did. Not. Disappoint.
I started at the Freixenet Italian Sparkling Rose booth and enjoyed some beautiful bubbles. Now for the record, I am not a Rose girl. I am a Red woman. 24/7. Yet this year perimenopause and the Houston heat has me finally following protocol in regards to wine. Rose and white in summer, Reds in winter. I finally crave a fabulous white or something light to consume in summer. It’s just too hot.
While sauntering about the room, I discovered a meritage from LaStoria that was absolutely beautiful on the palette. It was light, but full of flavor. Great summer time tipple, not too heavy but still a beautiful red in colour.
A lot of good eats were being served. One of the surprises of the night for me was the fabulous treats being served by Fadi’s!!!!! OMG, if you love Mediterranean food and you live in Bellaire, Meyerland, South Houston, etc… then you love, have eaten and adore Fadi’s. You just do. Their booth didn’t disappoint per usual but I now view them in a different light. Not only is it a family friendly place to eat, they can be commissioned to cater an upscale event. Kudos to the team at Fadi’s. Well done.
HEB had the best Charcuterie booth ever. We are all aware that no one beats their grocery for wonderful cheeses and amazing fresh deli meats. I am a huge fan of their cheese section. It reminds me of being back in England and shopping at Tesco’s for some lovely cheeses on Sunday afternoon. Their booth was a big winner by far.
All in all, this was an amazing experience for a wine lover and foodie like me. To know this takes places annually, I will now mark my calendar forever more because this is one event I don’t want to miss.
Enjoy the rest of my pictures from the event. I raise my glass to you!!
